Families
For Families serves as an advocate for families
- parents, grandparents, children, guardians,
caregivers, extended family members -
in order to enhance a family's living through
the best parenting, best education, and best resources
for financial, health, and social wellness.
Families For Families,
501 (c)(3) was established in 1988 as a family
advocacy. Since that time, our Father's Day
Congress component has provided Life Skills
and parenthood classes including conflict resolution,
financial management, effective communication
skills, job readiness training, family relationship
improvement, and even cooking classes titled "What's
For Breakfast?" and "Cooking With Class".
Our Kidz Vision City component provides
youth tutoring, youth publications, and Public
Speaking for Kids and parents. We offer scholarships
for class materials/supplies.
Through those programs, we provide Parenthood
Life Skills Classes,
Teen Museum Art Exhibits, Debate Club Knowledge
Bowls, Family Resources, and Youth Poetry Symposium
events. These programs increase family
communication, a family's economic development,
and educational success while providing tools
to reduce poverty levels in the communities we
serve. Our recently published book, "The
Familyhood Map" is a family resource
and will be used to promote family empowerment.
Annual activities include:
Father's Day Congress Parenthood Map Classes
& Awards
Vision 2000 Job Training/Retention Program
Youth Poetry Symposium Published Books & Teen
Museum Exhibits
Youth Debate Club Program
Our
mission and challenge is to focus on a demographic
group [which, if reached, can largely reduce
youth gang activity/involvement, domestic violence,
academic failure, and the poverty levels in
communities we serve.
